Coach Matt Hite

Coach Hite has been instrumental in the development of Fencing in the Amarillo Area. In 2002 and 2006, Coach Hite attended the National Coaches College at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Coach has also fenced on three other competitive fencing teams and has 6 years of college fencing experience.  Coach Hite is a nationally rated referee and has National Classifications in Foil and Epee.  Matt is the founder of High Plains Fencing Academy.   Coach Hite also serves as the coach of record at WTAMU in the Buff Blades fencing program.  There have been many fencers qualify to go to the Junior Olympics and National Championships with the coaching of Coach Hite.

 

 

Coach Victoria Conoley

Victoria is the head youth/developmental coach at High plains fenicng.  She oversees all youth activities

and coaching. Victoria has been fencing for over 8 years and is a competitive fencer at High Plains

 Fencing.   Victoria is nationally classified in foil. Victoria is a nationally rated referee in both foil and

Epee. In the 2005-06 Season Victoria won the Plains Texas Division Cup in Women's Foil and Women's

Epee.  Victoria's primary responsibility is coaching our youth and the first year program students. 

Victoria is one of HPF's biggest assets.  Coach Conloey also assist in the running of the WTAMU Buff

Blades Program

 

Coach Marc Hite

Marcus has been fencing since 1995 and  is a  competitive coach member of the USFA.   He first started

fencing in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). In the SCA,  Marcus ran local fencing for 4 years 

and then advanced up to the regional marshal level where he keep track, coached, and help run six

different fencing groups in the plains area. Marc is currently an Authorizing SCA Rapier Marshal as well. 

 During this time he also took 3 1/2 years of college fencing as a continuing ed class.  Though

Marcus takes fencing seriously he does not take winning seriously.  "It's all about having fun and learning

 a new trick." says Marcus.   Marc is national classified in Foil and Epee.  Recently Marc began

preparing to become a national certified referee as well.

 

 
Thomas Conoley -- Armor/fencer

Thomas has been armoring at HPF since 2005 and also fences epee competitively. Thomas is 

currently going to college and is a very busy student but still finds time to help HPF with it's armory needs.

 

Romeo Evalle -- Armor/dad/fencer

Romeo is a another recent addition to the HPF staff and is training as an armor.  Romeo also fences foil and has been taking our Buff Blades Class in Canyon at WTAMU.

 

 

Craig Simpson-- Armor/dad

Craig is a recent addition to the HPF staff is is currently training to become a an armor.

 

LaRue  Hite--Media Relations/finance 

LaRue takes care of our press releases and other media and public relations needs.  She is a vital part 

in the promotion of fencing in this area.   She also  helps coordinate travel arrangements for the team.

LaRue is in charge of all registrations at HPF events and is the financial office of the organization.
